harder, better, faster... stronger?

Hello friends,

Flower Violence has at last freed itself from the fetters of myspace, only to again entrench itself in more cyberdreck. What it is we'll be using this website for is as of yet unbeknownst to me. Perhaps as a less professional means of documenting and publishing our activities for those of you who are interested. Anyhow, anticipate member-to-member mudslinging and various other cathartic activities to occur via blogger and stay tuned.

I think that for once, I can speak for every member when I say that we're really excited about how the new material is coming together. Shortly after posting the recent '09 demo on myspace, we received quite an extensive load of feedback from our listeners. Personally, I found it interesting how time and time again, our sound was compared to thrash or hardcore. Perhaps it's just the fishbowl, but as the demo material was being put together, it seemed metal if anything to me. I suppose that the pleasure's not ours though. In fact, it's kind of a relief. I feel that the material will not be so limited musically if we avoid holding ourselves to some sort of arbitrary selling point. Our sound can be best described as, if anything, an amalgamation of our ever-varying musical tastes. Chase has really stepped up to the plate with his latest work, which covers a lot of ground genre-wise. Thrash, hardcore, technical death metal, cell phone ringtones, trance; it’s really quite an adventurous tune, but it’s coming together really smoothly. Daniel and I haven’t made a hell of a lot of progress on what I dare say is Flower Violence’s latest power metal epic, but we’re feeling optimistic about how things are falling into place. As for when the new material is going to be recorded and published, I couldn’t say anything with certainty. I’m just excited to add these new songs to the setlist so we can share them with you.

While we’re on the subject of sharing, I’d like to again inform our readers that the entirety of Flower Violence’s recorded music is available for free download by means of mediafire. A lot of our listeners have had trouble downloading it as such. For those of you who are similarly plagued, I’d like to first refer you to the step-by-step instructions that Chase has so kindly elucidated on this page. If you find that our music is still inaccessible, simply contact us via myspace message and we’ll happily send music to you in a specified or preferred manner.

Be sure to catch Flower Violence live at On The Y with Serows, Vital Perception, and more to be announced on the 22nd of May. The show will be another one of our attempts to familiarize ourselves with the Sacramento metal scene. The way we see it, music is music, so we want as many different people to experience Flower Violence as possible and hopefully have a lot of fun in doing so.

This is a pretty encompassing summarization of what Flower Violence has been up to lately. Stay tuned for a more intimate blogging atmosphere and the drama that may or may not ensue and until then, take care.
